GM Cars more users in China as compared to U.S

General Motors for the first time sold more cars in China in the first six months of 2010 than it did in the United States.

GM's China sales from January through June totaled 1,209,138 units, up 49 percent from the same period in 2009. In the U.S., GM sold 1,069,577 units, up 32 percent from the previous year.

GM is refreshing its product lineup in China this year with new models such as the Chevrolet New Sail hatchback and the Buick Excelle GT sedan. It expects the new lineup to help propel its sales in the second half of 2010. It aims to sell 2 million units this year and forecasts a 50 percent jump in sales to 3 million vehicles by 2015.

GM, which makes passenger cars with China's SAIC, said earlier that it would launch 25 new and upgraded models equipped with the latest green technology in China by 2012.

In June, GM said it sold 176,486 units in China, including 36,486 Buicks. In the U.S. in June, Buick sales totaled 13,133.
